Analyst TSN Frank Corrado compared Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin and Wayne Gretzky, who are among the top two snipers in National Hockey League (NHL) regular season history.
“Gretzky started in an era when goalkeepers had smaller goals and defenses were lost to God knows where. And when we got into a different era, we saw Gretzky’s performance really decline. Ovechkin is not cut out for something like this. We have seen his production increase over the last few seasons,” Carrado said.
Washington actually abandoned the idea of rebuilding the roster before Ovechkin’s contract expired. Alexander’s contract will be valid for three more seasons, including the current season. The capital team collected two points by winning one of the three matches at the beginning of the regular season. Alexander Ovechkin has only one assist. In total, during his NHL career, the Russian sniper scored 822 goals in the regular season, 72 goals behind the legendary Canadian Wayne Gretzky, who holds the goalscoring record.
In the next game, Washington will play against the Montreal Canadians. The match will be played on October 22.
Formerly Corrado expressed his confidenceThat Ovechkin will be the greatest sniper of all time.
