“I think we need to find a way to score goals. Of course, we are struggling a little right now. But it all depends on us. We understand the system. We hockey players need to pass through the central zone and create, especially in the offensive zone. Are you satisfied with yourself? No, not at all. If we talk about how I play I’m not happy with my play,” Ovechkin said.
The Washington Capitals actually abandoned the idea of rebuilding their roster before the team captain’s contract expired. Ovechkin’s contract will run for three more seasons, including the current season. At the beginning of the regular season, Washington has now collected two points with one win in three matches. The Russian striker has only one assist. During his NHL career, Ovechkin scored a total of 822 goals in the regular season, 72 goals behind the legendary Wayne Gretzky, who holds the goalscoring record.
