The legendary Fabio Cannavaro spoke about Diego’s legacy in Naples.
Fabio Cannavaro was born and raised in Naples and like the people who lived in said city in the 80s, they saw firsthand what a phenomenon that was Diego Armando Maradona for the club from that region: Napoli. In an interview for Calciomecato, the world champion with Italy praised the legacy of the Argentine star.
“To us he was and is a God. The first time I saw him I was twelve years old, we were in the dressing room of San Paolo; Then I was lucky enough to live with him as a teammate, because on Thursdays he trained with the first team and as a friend I was with him in Dubai. “It’s a shame he left like this because he could have lived longer without a doubt,” he said.
‘Il Capitano’ made his debut with Napoli’s first team in 1993 and was unable to share the field with Diego at the club because ‘Pelusa’ left in 1991.
