Inter Miami coach Tata Martino has provided an update on Lionel Messi’s fitness ahead of the final two games.

Martino has revealed that the club will evaluate the Argentine after he returns from the FIFA Date with Argentina, where he scored both goals in the Albiceleste’s 2-0 win against Peru on Tuesday.

“We will evaluate not only Leo, but all the players who play for their national team,” Tata said. “We also have to make sure that we don’t have a chance of reaching the play-offs and it is best to avoid risks.”

Messi returned from injury after missing four games before halftime due to a muscle problem against Cincinnati. He played a total of 36 minutes off the bench in the 1-0 loss to the Eastern Conference leaders, which now makes it impossible to achieve play-off qualification this season.

Despite this, Martino warned Charlotte that Miami will still look to secure victory in both matches as they look to end the season on a high.

“It is our duty to finish the League in the best possible way and somehow improve our image from the last three or four games,” he said. “It helps draw conclusions for next season.”
