British GiveMeSport journalist Paul Brown believes Russian footballer Andrei Arshavin is not realizing his full potential at Arsenal in London. He shared his opinion with him Sports24.
“Arshavin was an underrated and misunderstood genius who did not fit well into Arsenal’s game. He will always be remembered here for his four goals at Anfield, but Wenger never gave the Russian the chance to play as a true creator at Arsenal.
Shava was too good to waste his talent running around, but it was all wasted at Arsenal. In Russia, led by Guus Hiddink, Andrei was amazing! Arshavin was so good that Wenger had to build a team around him.
I have no doubt that Shava could easily be among the Premier League’s top 50 players of all time if Arsenal trusted him to do the same. Unfortunately his talent was wasted in England.
There is a version that Arsenal never really needed Arshavin, but he was brought to the club as a gift from Alisher Usmanov. Looking back, Andrei should have gone to a club that would have valued his talent much more,” the journalist said.
Arshavin played for Arsenal from 2009 to 2013, making a total of 144 appearances for the team and scoring 31 goals.
