Martin Gernat, Slovak defender of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) club “Lokomotiv”, said in an interview: “Championship” It tells the story of playing in the American Hockey League (AHL) and dangerous life in a North American city.
“Some cities in the AHL are tough. During my junior year, the team moved from Oklahoma to Bakersfield, also close to Stockton. At the hotel we were told not to go out or even go to the restaurant because it was too dangerous.
Some cities weren’t very nice but that’s part of life. Experiencing the life of an AHL player was a great experience for me too. For me, it was the most difficult experience in my AHL career,” said the hockey player.
The Slovakian player signed a contract with Lokomotiv as a free agent in June 2023.
Gernat played in 138 games in the American Hockey League (AHL) and managed to score 5 goals and make 28 assists in these games. He scored 30 goals and 77 assists in 189 matches in the Czech League. The hockey player also played in Switzerland, where he scored 60 points in 103 games.
Gernat played 22 matches with the Slovak national team, scored 3 goals and made 3 assists.
