Conor McGregor, the former champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in two weight categories, insulted the current lightweight champion Islam Makhachev on social networks.
“This guy is a complete idiot. This is what happens when relatives sleep with each other and have babies. This is the result,” wrote the Irishman.
McGregor responded to Makhachev’s statement as follows: criticized Pound-for-pound evaluation at press conference.
On February 12, Makhachev defeated Australian Alex Volkanovski by unanimous decision after five rounds at the UFC-284 tournament in Perth. For the Russian, this victory was the 24th victory with a single loss in his professional career. This is Makhachev’s first title defense. In total, he had 25 fights in his career, winning 24 and suffering only one defeat.
On October 21, the UFC 294 tournament will take place in Abu Dhabi (UAE), where Makhachev will have to defend his title in a fight with Charles Oliveira. However, the Brazilian player was injured in training and will be replaced by Volkanovski.
Previously Makhachev denied from change of citizenship.
