Russian Mountaineering Federation (FAR) said that they will reach Nadezhda Oleneva, who fell from the mountain in Nepal, by helicopter “Sports Express”.

“So far the rescue group has not been able to reach Nadezhda Oleneva in the valley. Now the option of landing on the climber using a helicopter is being studied. “We will start rescue efforts when we reach an agreement with the carrier and the weather becomes suitable for flying,” FAR said.

On October 14, The Himalayan Times published information that the athlete was said to have fallen into a crevasse while climbing Dhaulagiri Mountain in Nepal. Oleneva was part of a group of three climbers at an altitude of 6680 meters.

Roman Abildaev and Rasim Kashapov also climbed with him. They planned to climb a mountain 8167 meters high. The rest of the expedition is above base camp.

Oleneva is the 2022 Russian mountaineering champion. The athlete is 38 years old.
