Former Soviet tennis player Anna Dmitrieva admitted that it was difficult for her to explain the defeat of Russian representative Andrei Rublev in the final of the Masters series tournament held in Shanghai. His words lead the way Metatations.
“I lacked psychological stability and some luck. <…> He does not have a serious psychological problem. The tension is huge every time you play for the ball. Andrey is quite stable. Most likely he was unlucky,” Dmitrieva said.
Rublev lost the final to Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz. The match, which lasted 2 hours and 6 minutes, ended with the score of 6:3, 3:6, 7:6 (10:8).
Rublev played in the final of the Masters series tournament for the second time this season. In April, the Russian became the winner of the competition, defeating Dane Holger Rune in the decisive match in Monte Carlo.
Rublev is ranked seventh in the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP) rankings with 4,550 points. Serbian Novak Djokovic continues to lead with 11,545 points. Spanish Carlos Alcaraz ranks second with 8,715 points. Russian Daniil Medvedev (7490 points) completed the top three. Hurkacz is ranked 17th. Rublev will move up two places in the ATP rankings thanks to reaching the final of the tournament in Shanghai on October 16.
