However, the man from Alicante recovered and became the leader of the race, followed like a shadow by Masiá, leading the group of seven riders, including Collin Veijer, David Alonso, Moreira, David Muñoz and Öncü.

From then on the man from Alicante tried to reconnect with the leading six at a fast race lap pace. With three laps to go, Holgado soon overtook Alonso for sixth place, just before entering the penultimate lap where Masiá continued to lead the group.
At that moment, Holgado again received a new long lap penalty when cutting into Turn 9, but decided not to do so two laps from the end, meaning a 3.5-second penalty.. He fell to ninth place in the last race and after being one of the biggest heroes of the Moto3 race in Indonesia with the penalty, he added only two points and finished 14th.
