Pittsburgh Penguins’ Russian forward Evgeni Malkin evaluated his success with goals in the National Hockey League (NHL). His words were quoted by the club’s press service.

“I hope the season ends tomorrow and I win the Hart Trophy (laughs). I didn’t really think about this achievement. Maybe I’ll try to catch up with Ovechkin, but it won’t be easy. I hope that when I finish my career and look back, I can say that I did everything I could. I don’t think about glasses or anything anymore. “I’m just trying to show my best,” said the hockey player.

The 37-year-old forward scored a goal against the Calgary Flames in an NHL regular season game (5:2). For him, this goal was the 473rd goal in his career. Malkin surpassed Alexander Mogilny (473) in this indicator and shared with him the third place among Russian NHL players in history, after Sergei Fedorov (483) and Alexander Ovechkin (822).

Capital captain Ovechkin is the only Russian in the “500 club” and is second in the overall list of snipers after Wayne Gretzky (894).

Former journalists guess Ovechkin’s goal count in the new NHL season.
