Spartak player Medina explains why he celebrated the goal against CSKA

Spartak Moscow’s Paraguayan midfielder Jesus Medina explained why he decided to celebrate the goal he scored against his former team, the capital’s CSKA, in the 11th round match of the Russian Premier League (RPL). His words are quoted “Sports Express”.

“It was a difficult match, the derby. Why did you celebrate the goal you scored against CSKA? This is football. I respect CSKA, I was there. But I scored, I have to continue playing. Now I am at Spartak. There is nothing else,” said Medina.

Medina, who was transferred from CSKA to Spartak during the summer transfer period, played in the 90+7th minute of the match on October 8. He brought his team a draw with the goal he scored in the minute.

The match, which took place at the Otkritie Bank Arena stadium in Moscow, ended in a 2:2 draw. Milan Gaich scored a double for the army team and Quincy Promes also scored for Spartak.

After 11 rounds in the Russian Championship, Spartak is in fifth place with 17 points. CSKA, on the other hand, ranks eighth behind the red-whites in additional indicators with the same points. The next match between the teams will be played within the scope of the 21st round of the Russian Premier League, the exact date and start time of the match has not been determined yet.
