Medvedev sensationally eliminated in third round of tournament in Shanghai

Russian Daniil Medvedev lost to US representative Sebastian Korda in the third round of the tournament held in Shanghai (China) with scores of 6:7 and 2:6.

The duration of the meeting was 1 hour 27 minutes. Medvedev made six aces, committed four double faults and converted a break point from three overs.

In the next round, Korda will face Francisco Serundolo, the winner of the Marton Fucsovics double.

Three Russians remain in the tournament. Andrey Rublev will play with Quentin Alice (France), Roman Safiullin – with American Ben Shelton and Karen Khachanov – with Kazakhstan representative Beibit Zhukaev.

Serbian Novak Djokovic continues to lead the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings (11,545 points). Spanish Carlos Alcaraz ranks second with 8715 points. Russian Daniil Medvedev (7490 points) completed the top three. Korda is ranked 26th.

Russians Andrei Rublev, Karen Khachanov and Roman Safiullin are ranked seventh, 14th and 50th respectively.
