The delegation of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) refused to attend the meetings of the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC). This was reported by press service OCD.
“In June 2022, the PRC was unreasonably deprived of the opportunity to attend the EOC General Assembly, first in person and then via video link. The PRC protested the actions of the EOC in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), demanding that they be declared illegal and our rights as full members of the organization be guaranteed.
Accordingly, after CAS makes its decision based on the results of the hearings held in July this year, decisions on further steps will be made by us. However, the practices of the last two years show that the EOC cannot be expected to take adequate and impartial actions. The issue of ending discrimination against Russian athletes is not on the agenda of the current General Assembly meeting.
In addition, the PRC has still not received any acceptable explanation or apology regarding the unlawful exclusion of EOC events held since February 2022. “In connection with the above, there is no practical sense in any interaction with the EOC at this time.”
The General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees will be held in Istanbul on 6 and 7 October. Earlier, EOC President Spyros Kapralos said that the PRC was invited to the meeting but did not register any of its representatives.
At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.
At the meeting of the IOC Executive Committee on March 28, 2023, it was proposed to allow the Russians to remain in neutral status if the athletes are not actively involved in supporting military operations.
Previously at OKR said About the conditions presented to the IOC.
