Manchester United is investigating how more than 1,000 away fans ended up in the home section during the defeat against Galatasaray.
United had a disastrous evening on Tuesday, losing 3-2 to Galatasaray in the Champions League. Things only got worse when it emerged that at least a thousand away fans were packed into the home sections of Old Trafford as they stayed behind to celebrate in humiliating scenes for everyone involved in Manchester.
Manchester Evening News reports that large numbers of Turkish fans were in the stands of Sir Alex Ferguson and Bobby Charlton, while some sitting on the scoreboard removed part of a banner dedicated to Sir Matt Busby. Some are said to have obtained tickets through resellers, while other Galatasaray fans from the United Kingdom (the United Kingdom has a significant Turkish population) were able to purchase tickets because they could provide a British address.

United will conduct the investigation behind the scenes, while Erik ten Hag’s side will try to avoid a seventh defeat of the season on the pitch when they face Brentford in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Saturday.
