Russia’s first racket narrowly beat its Egyptian opponent and advanced to the second round of the tournament in China 11:59

Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina lost sensationally to Egyptian representative Mayar Sherif Ahmed Sherif in the first round of the tournament held in Beijing (China) with scores of 1:6, 6:4, 7:6.

The duration of the meeting was 2 hours and 48 minutes. Kasatkina committed five double faults and converted three of the 12 break points won.

In the next round, Kasatkina will play against Chinese Xinyu Wang, who beat Russian Vera Zvonareva in their match.

Besides Kasatkina, seven Russians remain in the tournament in China: Mirra Andreeva and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who will play each other; Anna Blinkova, Lyudmila Samsonova, Veronika Kudermetova, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Varvara Gracheva.

Belarus representative Arina Sabalenka continues to lead the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings with 9,266 points. He was followed by Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek (8195 points). American Cori Gauff (6165 points) completed the top three. Daria Kasatkina is the best Russian woman in this ranking. She ranks 13th with 2830 points.
