Russian Columbus forward Dmitry Voronkov started a mass brawl during a preseason game against Buffalo.
At the end of the second period, the Russian scuffled with an opponent in the backfield and pointedly touched Buffalo goaltender Devon Levi after the whistle before falling. Levi’s associates rushed to his defense and started a massive brawl.
The match between the teams ended with Buffalo winning 4:3. During the match, the Sabers lost to their opponents by three goals – Patrik Laine (twice) and Justin Danforth scored for the guests. Jeff Skinner scored a double for the winners, and Henri Jokiharju and Zach Benson also scored.
Voronkov was selected by the club in the fourth round of the 2019 draft.
It is worth noting that several Russians played for Columbus; these are goalkeeper Daniil Tarasov, forwards Kirill Marchenko and Egor Chinakhov.
Dmitry Voronkov has been playing for Ak Bars since 2018. At the Olympic Games in Beijing, he won a silver medal as part of the Russian team.
