Dynamo and Russian national team player Dmitry Skopintsev explained why the national team could not beat Qatar in the friendly match. His words are quoted “RB Sports”.
“The local Qataris have been living in their own country all their lives. I’m not making excuses, but we were stuffy and hot. I remember going out in the second half, running in Russia and not getting tired, and then running back and forth – my legs went sour. We talked to the boys. There are air conditioners but we are not used to the local climate. If we had brought them here in October, I think we would have beaten them 4-0,” Skopintsev said.
On September 12, the Russian national team played an away draw with the Qatar national team. The match was played in Doha and ended with a score of 1:1. Before that, the Russian team, consisting of players under the age of 23, had played two matches with the Egyptian Olympic team in Suez. The first match ended in a fruitful draw (1:1), and in the second match the African team celebrated the victory (2:1).
The International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) have decided to suspend the participation of the Russian national team and all Russian clubs in all competitions controlled by these organizations in the spring of 2022.
Valery Karpin’s team played its last official match in November 2021 against Croatia in the 2022 World Cup qualifying match (0:1).
Previously recognizedRussia will play a friendly match against Kenya.
