Gadzhi Gadzhiev, a member of the youth football committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU), evaluated the return of youth teams to international tournaments positively. His words are quoted RIA News.
“An extremely positive decision, but it may cause heartburn for some UEFA bosses who ‘love’ Russia very much. In any case, I am very happy if our boys and girls can play, it will benefit our football. Another question is how dynamically this ice will move. Therefore, I think negotiations with Asia should continue, it is unknown how this situation will develop,” Gadzhiev said.
On September 26, the executive board of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) allowed Russian national teams consisting of junior players (under 17 years old) to participate in international tournaments. Men’s and women’s teams are expected to play their matches without flags and anthems. They will not take place on the territory of Russia.
Since spring 2022, the participation of Russian national teams and clubs in international tournaments has been suspended. All this time, the issue of moving to the Asian Conference has been discussed in football circles.
Former player of Spartak offered Young people will wait for the return of the flag and anthem.
