Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky appointed Andrey Shevchenko, the former coach of the country’s national football team, as his freelance advisor. This is stated on the website of the press service of the president of Ukraine.
During his playing career, Shevchenko played for Dynamo Kiev, Milan and Chelsea in London. After that Shevchenko became a coach. He led the Ukrainian national team and Italian Genoa, from which he left in January 2022.
Under his leadership, the Ukrainian national team reached the quarter-finals of the 2020 European Championship, losing 0:4 to England.
On September 26, Zenit coach Anatoly Timoshchuk appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in a case regarding the deprivation of titles and the ban on football activities in Ukraine.
Timoshchuk was among the 119 people on the list approved by Vladimir Zelensky. The athlete was sanctioned on 14 articles; one of them read: “Deprivation of Ukraine from state awards and other types of incentives.”
Previously at UEFA statedHe said the suspensions of Russia’s senior national teams would not be lifted until the conflict in Ukraine was over.
