On September 17, Ovechkin turned 38 years old.

A member of the Russian national team, Ovechkin won the world championship three times.
Ovechkin, who played in 74 games in the NHL last season, scored 42 goals and made 33 assists. However, this did not help the Capitals reach the tournament’s play-offs. The Russian scored 822 goals in his NHL career. The difference with Wayne Gretzky is 72 goals. The Canadian has 894 goals and remains first among snipers in NHL history.
