Olympic champion Alexander Kozhevnikov has called legendary goaltender Dominik Hasek sick after calling for the Russian to be disqualified from the National Hockey League (NHL). Kozhevnikov’s words are quoted as follows: news.ru.
“Well, he is sick, what can you do with him? Looks like there’s something wrong with his head. The same thing goes on and on. There are no proposals, only sanctions, sanctions. He needs to see a psychiatrist, he needs a psychologist. All our players have very good backgrounds, they are normal guys, cheerful. Why should they be banned?” said Kozhevnikov.
Hasek played for Spartak Moscow in Russia. This club was the last in the goalkeeper’s career. In addition to Czech clubs, he played in the NHL for the Chicago Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabers, Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators.
Hasek has repeatedly criticized the Czech government for not imposing a legal ban on the participation of local athletes in tournaments in Russia. Zprávy Aktuálně publication stated that the former hockey player will speak in the European Parliament and demand the exclusion of representatives of Russia and Belarus from all competitions.
