Russian mixed-style (MMA) fighter Alexander Volkov has moved up from seventh to sixth in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight rankings.
The Russian’s last opponent at UFC 293, Tai Tuivasa, dropped two places to eighth place.
Volkov defeated the Australian in the co-main event of the UFC 293 tournament on the night of September 10, Moscow time. The fight ended early: with a minute left in the second round, Volkov held his opponent by choke, forcing Tuivasa to surrender.
Before that, on the night of March 11, 2023, Volkov met with Moldovan representative Alexander Romanov at the UFC Fight Night 221 tournament and won with a technical knockout in the first round. The Russian fighter has 37 wins and 10 losses, 24 of which were by knockout.
Before Volkov, Tuivasa met with another representative of Russia, Sergei Pavlovich. The fight ended with the defeat of the Australian fighter in the first round. He has 15 wins and 6 losses in total.
