Kremlin calls on Russians to participate in the Olympics as individual athletes 14:12

Russian President Vladimir Putin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov believes that domestic athletes should go to the 2024 Olympics as individual athletes. His words are quoted RIA News.

“We absolutely need to maintain the level of our athletes and it is not possible to do this without international competitions. We know that there will be athletes who will participate in these Games in their personal capacity. “I believe we should take part in this way,” Peskov said.

At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) appealed to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions.

The IOC refused to send Russia an invitation to the Olympic Games in Paris on July 26, 2023, the deadline set for this.

The decision on Russian participation in the 2024 Games has been postponed indefinitely. At the IOC press conference, Bach said the decision would be made “no later than a year before the Olympics.”

Previously coach Tatyana Tarasova statedRussian figure skating does not need to look to Asia.
