International Hockey Federation (IIHF) President Luc Tardif said that the organization will take action if CSKA and goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov violate IIHF rules. His words are quoted “Championship”.
“The IIHF Council will take further action on second and third violations of IIHF rules. The IIHF is committed to fighting for the respect of our rules and the preservation of the universal principle of respect for contract and transfer rules. “A press release will be made on the IIHF website in the coming days,” he said.
On August 4, the IIHF penalized CSKA with a season-long international transfer ban for breach of contract with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Additionally, according to the decision, the team’s goalkeeper Fedotov will not be able to play in the Kontinental Hockey League until December 31, 2023. On 27 August, FHR allowed Fedotov to play from 1 January 2024.
After four matches played, CSKA is in fifth place in the KHL Western Conference standings with four points. Kunlun sits second in the West with six points. The leader of the points table in the West was Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo with six points.
