Northern European Olympic Committees oppose Russia’s participation in the Olympics

The Olympic and Paralympic committees, as well as the national federations of the Nordic countries, sent a message to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) at a meeting in Nuuk, Greenland. Athletes from Russia and Belarus will reportedly be allowed to compete “Championship”.

Representatives from Norway, Sweden, Greenland, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Faroe and the Aland Islands attended the meeting.

At the end of February 2022, the IOC issued a call to international sports federations and recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions. It is worth noting that Russians participate in some sports as neutral athletes.
