Shimon Shemberg, former spokesperson for the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), said on his social media page that CSKA goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov was used as a pawn in a dispute over his contract.

“He is being used as a pawn in this conflict with both the IIHF and the NHL. There really isn’t much of a choice. “He can’t go abroad and his only option is to play for CSKA,” Shemberg said.

Recall that despite the sanctions of the IIHF, Ivan Fedotov participated in the match with Ak Bars. The sanctions included penalizing CSKA with a one-season international transfer ban and disqualifying Ivan Fedotov until December 31, 2023. This decision was made because the army club signed a deal with Fedotov despite having a valid contract with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Formerly Shemberg declarationThat the KHL could now be considered a rogue league.
