Alexander Tikhonov, a four-time Olympic champion in biathlon, criticized the Russian Premier League (RPL), saying that the money spent on football in Russia should be directed to hockey. Words lead the way metatations.

“They keep asking questions about our football. What is the Premier League? This is nonsense that the word “premier” should be removed. Do we have players at the level of Pele, Maradona, Messi? We need to stop wasting money on this useless project and to bring back our best players from across the ocean it is better to give it to hockey players, ”Tikhonov said.

Tikhonov was the silver medalist of the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble, along with four Olympic medals in his career. Eleven-time world champion, fifteen-time champion of the USSR, champion of the USSR Spartakiad, won the USSR Cup in 1978. From 1996 to 2008 he headed the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU), from 2008 to 2010 he was vice-president of the organization. Tikhonov also worked at the International Biathlon Union (IBU) and served as its Vice President from 2002 to 2009.
