According to the ERR news, Mikhail Vlasov, a member of the Estonian curling team, was disqualified by the Estonian Curling Federation for participating in the tournament held in Svetlogorsk, Russia.

Vlasov competed with athletes from Belarus, but in the form of the Estonian team. Representatives from Italy and Brazil also participated in the competition.

The Estonian Curling Union demanded an explanation from Vlasov, but the athlete refused to admit that he was wrong.

Going to the tournament in Russia, Vlasov said that he went for treatment. The Estonian Curling Union suspended Vlasov’s right to represent the country at international level, local competitions and state training programs.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) refused to send an invitation to Russia to the Olympic Games in Paris until the deadline set for this, July 26, 2023.

The decision on Russian participation in the 2024 Games has been postponed indefinitely. At a press conference earlier, IOC president Bach said the decision would be made “at the latest one year before the Olympics”.

Formerly World Badminton Federation accepted Russian athletes for competitions.
