On July 11, Sport24 reported that Shcherbakova had contracted mononucleosis. This is a viral disease in which fever develops, the liver and spleen, lymph nodes increase, the larynx and pharynx are affected. On August 1, RIA Novosti reported that the athlete returned to training.
