The Norwegian has destroyed virtually every opponent he’s faced and can dominate English football for as long as he wants.
The week before his first Premier League game against Manchester City, Erling Haaland spoke to Alan Shearer and shared a point of view that made him think: ‘You have to go into the game hungry. It doesn’t matter what happened before, if you’ve scored three goals, if you’ve scored zero goals, if you haven’t scored for a long time.”
During his incredible debut season, in which he scored 52 goals in 53 games, Haaland was always hungry. Whether he had gone several games without scoring or scored a hat-trick, in the next game he was always motivated and ready to attack again.
The player had a perfect season in England in every way. He guided City to the Premier League title, the FA Cup and, best of all, he finally helped them win the Champions League, the trophy they’ve been dreaming about. As well as winning the Golden Boot as the top scorer in the Premier League, with 36 goals scored, more than any player in the league’s 31-year history.
And now he has won the PFA Player of the Year award, a well-deserved recognition for his achievements. GOAL is a tribute to the Norwegian, who broke records and was a joy to watch, even for rival fans. The defenders, on the other hand, had endless nightmares about him. And the bad news for them? He’s just getting started…
