FHR bans Fedotov from playing for CSKA until the end of his sentence

The Russian Hockey Federation (FHR) has approved CSKA’s application for goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov, but the goalkeeper will miss part of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) season. This has been reported “Match TV”.

The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) suspended Fedotov until December 31, 2023. FHR allowed the goalkeeper to play for CSKA from 1 January 2024. Accordingly, Fedotov will only be able to go on the ice in official matches after his suspension from the IIHF expires.

Before the start of last season, Fedotov signed a contract with Philadelphia, which plays in the National Hockey League (NHL). However, he missed the whole season due to his duty in the Russian army. On July 9, 2023, the registration of goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov’s contract with CSKA in the Continental Hockey League caused controversy between clubs and Leagues.

The IIHF recognized Fedotov’s contract with Philadelphia as valid and decided to punish CSKA with a one-season international transfer ban. The Regulation will enter into force on 11 August 2023 and will expire on 10 August 2024. On August 18, CSKA appealed the goalkeeper’s sentence.
