CSKA President Igor Esmantovich said the club plans to apply to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the contract of goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov. His words convey DEA News.

“Now the lawsuit will be filed with the IIHF, if we can’t find our way then we will turn to CAS. Announcing Ivan for this season is not only our initiative, but Fedotov’s as well. He had a spark and interest in the game. It was easy for both of us to decide to announce it,” Esmantovich said.

On August 14, the IIHF penalized CSKA with a one-season international transfer ban. Also, Ivan Fedotov will not be able to play in the Continental Hockey League (KHL) until August 31, 2023.

From July 2022 to July 2023 Fedotov served in the army. He was currently contracted with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL).

On September 1, the new season starts in the KHL – CSKA will face Ak Bars Kazan.

Former CSKA coach Sergey Fedorov did not exclude Fedotov’s participation in the Moscow Mayor’s Cup.
