Commentator Dmitry Guberniev admired the support of figure skater Roman Kostomarov, who after a long hiatus appeared on the ice at Ilya Averbukh’s show. His words convey “Sports Express”.
“Roman Kostomarov is going to go skiing on the ice. I have no doubt about it. He has an unyielding will, with incredible fortitude and an incredible love of life. I am not surprised. He is a brave man. He will also win the Paralympic Games. We are talking about our Paralympic athletes, they are people with unlimited possibilities. These possibilities are absolutely endless when it comes to Rome. The support of the family is incredible. I admire the whole family,” said Guberniev.
August 22 Kostomarov joined Ilya Averbukh with his wife Oksana at the “Love Letters” ice show in Sochi.
In early January 2022, Roman Kostomarov was hospitalized after New Year’s performances at an open-air show. It was stated that he was taken to the intensive care unit due to pneumonia and was dependent on artificial lung ventilation, and his condition was reported to be extremely serious.
The athlete was then transferred to a hospital in Kommunarka, resuscitated and connected to ECMO.
During treatment, both feet and hands of Roman Kostomarov were amputated.
