A bombshell report from the Saudi newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat claims that Nuno Espirito Santo informed the Al Ittihad board that Karim Benzema does not suit his style of play. They also confirm that the former Valencia coach did not ask for the signing of the former Real Madrid striker, causing a real crisis between the two in a dressing room that is now full of tension.
It has also been reported that Benzema applied for the Al-Ittihad captaincy but was turned down by the Portuguese coach. The Ballon d’Or winner and Real Madrid legend “is not comfortable” working in the current environment at Al-Ittihad, perhaps opening the door to a surprise exit.
Benzema played two games for Al-Ittihad this season and although he did not score a goal, he provided an assist in a 3-0 win over Al-Raed.
