Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov gave a speech of gratitude to the fans at the end of Ilya Averbukh’s ice show “Love Letters” in Sochi.

“Thank you for all your warm wishes to me for what you all went through, as well as our entire great team with Ilya Averbukh. I felt it all, I saw it all, and for that I am grateful to you. Thank you very much! May everyone be happy and healthy, take care of your health, all the best for you, ”said Kostomarov.

In early January 2022, Roman Kostomarov was hospitalized after New Year’s performances at an open-air show. It was stated that he was taken to the intensive care unit due to pneumonia and was dependent on artificial lung ventilation, and his condition was reported to be extremely serious.

The athlete was then transferred to a hospital in Kommunarka, resuscitated and connected to ECMO.

During treatment, both feet and hands of Roman Kostomarov were amputated.
