Former Russian bobsleigh Alexander Zubkov was nominated in the elections to the legislative assembly of the Irkutsk region. It has been reported TASS.
The athlete was included in the party list “Fair Russia – Partiots – For Truth”, an approved list was published on the portal of the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk Region.
Zubkov became a two-time Olympic champion – in 2014, the sledge won gold medals in the doubles and quads competitions.
He was later disqualified and deprived of awards for the use of prohibited substances, but in 2018 a Russian court declared Zubkov’s disqualification illegal and awarded him the benefits resulting from his being an Olympic champion.
Thanks to this court decision, Zubkov became the first Olympic champion in history, recognized only in Russia.
