Russia’s first racquet, Daniil Medvedev, admitted that he is grateful for his return to Wimbledon this year.
“Coming back to Wimbledon has been incredible. I hope I can come back here for many more years and try to improve my result. That’s what I accomplished this year. I plan to try even harder in the years to come. Like I said, it was absolutely fantastic. Not just during the games. It was an incredible atmosphere all round. I am truly grateful. I will be happy to return to England many more times,” Medvedev said at his post-match press conference.
On July 14, Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev lost to the world’s first racket, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon semi-finals with the scores of 3:6, 3:6, 3:6.
In the final of the tournament, Alcaraz (world’s first racket) will face Serbian Novak Djokovic (world’s second racket). The match will be played on July 16.
Russian tennis players compete in international tournaments as neutral athletes after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that international organizations not allow domestic athletes. The only tournament the Russians missed was Wimbledon 2022. They returned it this year.
