“We still have a chance to participate in the Olympic Games. They are not only theoretical, but also practical. But they will be in an absolutely neutral state and in limited quantities, ”said Bogoslovskaya.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will send invitations to the Games on July 26. Russia and Belarus will not be invited due to the special operation in Ukraine.
At the end of February 2022, the IOC issued a call to international sports federations, advising them not to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in any competitions.
At a meeting of the IOC executive committee on March 28, it was recommended to allow the Russians to have a neutral status, if the athletes were not actively engaged in supporting hostilities.
