Russian tennis player Anastasia Pivovarova, the second oldest racket in the world among juniors, evaluated the success of Russian tennis players at Wimbledon in an interview with socialbites.ca: for the first time in the history of the country, three players reached the quarter-finals. This tournament is simultaneously – Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev and Roman Safiullin.
“I was absolutely delighted to see all the players in the 1/4 finals of Wimbledon. It’s always nice to see that we have so many talented guys that pull each other off, one skips the other, but all act together. And it’s even nicer to see them all communicate well and become friends. I have a very warm attitude towards these players and I am grateful for the highest level of tennis they show, they make us happy,” said Pivovarova.
The second oldest racket in the world also answered the question whether he considers the current era in Russian men’s tennis to be the best in history.
“Comparison is difficult. I liked the era of Marat Safin and Yevgeny Kafelnikov, when Marat won the Grand Slam at the age of 20. Every season is good when we have guys who can play at the highest level. And when there are a lot of them, it’s beautiful. Thank you very much for such tennis and for fighting in every match, ”said Pivovarova.
In the Wimbledon quarterfinals, Medvedev will play against American Christopher Eubanks. The match will be played with the second start on the number 1 field after the match between Arina Sobolenko and Madison Keys on July 12.
