The president of Barcelona grants “Sport” an interview in which he discusses Barca news and confirms the agreement they had with Arda Guler.
Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona, gave an extensive interview to the newspaper “Sport” in which he said that Barça have a “better team than Real Madrid”, making sure that there was an agreement with Arda Guler but that they wanted not entering into an auction with the white club, which eventually took over the services of the talented Turkish player.
LAPORTA, IN “MUNDO SPORTIVO”: “THE MESSI WAS DETERMINED EVERYTHING”
Regarding Arda Guler, he confirmed that the agreed amount was “17.5 million euros” and furthermore noted that “we agreed with the player”. But everything changed when Real Madrid came into play, something the footballer himself said in his presentation with the capital team.
The president of Barça is clear that “we could have come to compete”, but also that they have not even considered it: “Neither with Arda, nor with other players who want to come to Barça”. The reason is that “we set ourselves criteria that we will not exceed” with the goal of “not going back”.
Some of Laporta’s most notable phrases in the interview with “Sport”…
BETTER TEAM THAN MADRID: “We have a better team than Madrid and individually we are also better than our rivals by some margins. As a member and as a fan I am very happy with the team we are building.”
THE DRAWINGS COMING IN: “We already have a very competitive team. We have won the Spanish league and we can continue to dominate this competition. I am focused on making a good team rather than signing individuals. We signed Gundogan and Íñigo Martínez and they will give us great.” achievements like the others to come”.
XAVI’S REQUESTS: “We are clear about the coach’s requests. Maybe there is a winger and something missing in midfield and we will try to satisfy him. The team has won important titles again and we are ambitious for the future. We are working well and the coach is doing it too well. We all want to have a lot more fun in the years to come.”
