Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) Australian fighter Alex Volkanovski has announced that he is ready for a rematch with Russian fighter, lightweight promotion champion Islam Makhachev, explaining why this fight is important. Warrior’s words guide MMA Fighting.
“Everyone knows I want a light belt and a rematch with Islam. I think it’s also an important fight for promotion. The fight everyone wanted to see. The first meeting was great and very close – everybody liked it. We need to see five more rounds,” said Volkanovski.
On February 12, Makhachev defeated Volkanovski by unanimous decision after five rounds at UFC 284 in Perth. This victory for the Russian took the 24th place in his professional career with a loss. Mahachev’s next fight will be held on October 21 at UFC 294.
Volkanovski defeated Mexican Yair Rodriguez on July 9 to retain the UFC Featherweight Championship. 28 wins in 26 fights thanks to the Australian fighter. During this time he lost only twice.
