Belarusian tennis player Arina Sobolenko shared her expectations about the match she will play with Russian athlete Ekaterina Alexandrova.
“We played against each other many times. These were always tough and very even matches. I think the main thing for me is to focus on myself, fight for every point, not go crazy on the field, play with faith in myself.
“I think I have a great chance to win this game,” Sobolenko said at a post-match press conference.
Sobolenko and Aleksandrvoa will face each other in the 1/8 final at Wimbledon on July 10.
In the previous round, the Belarusian athlete had beaten the Russian Anna Blinkova, and Aleksandrova had defeated Dalma Galfi from Hungary.
Wimbledon started on July 3 and will run until July 16. The tournament’s prize fund is £44,700,000.
Besides Alexandrova, two Russians continue to participate in the tournament: Anastasia Potapova and Mirra Andreeva, who will face each other on July 9.
Rybakina is the current Wimbledon champion. Serbian Novak Djokovic celebrates the men’s victory in 2022.
