Ukrainian Shakhtar left without a manager

Croatian expert Igor Jovicevich has left his post as head coach of Ukrainian football club Shakhtar. This was reported by the team’s press service.

The entire coaching team is leaving, along with Jovicevic.

The 49-year-old expert has been heading Pitmen since July 2022. Under his leadership, the team played 40 official matches, in which they won 24 wins, 10 draws and six losses. Together with the Croatian, Shakhtar became the champion of Ukraine for the 14th time in history.

Before Shakhtar, Jovičević worked for Ukrainian Karpaty and Dnipro-1, Slovenian Celje, Croatian Dynamo.

On 25 June, Shakhtar CEO Serhiy Palkin threatened English Premier League (EPL) clubs Tottenham and Fulham with legal action for trying to get Ukrainian team players for free.

The International Football Federation (FIFA) had previously announced that foreign players and coaches have the right to suspend their contracts with Russian and Ukrainian clubs.
