Konstantin Dzyuba, who has served as the managing director of the team since 2019, could become the new sports director of Kazan football club Rubin. It has been reported “Sport Express”.
The publication had previously reported that Eduard Safonov would step down from the post of sports director due to his differing views on the selection with head coach Rashid Rakhimov.
Safonov was appointed to this post by moving from Krasnodar Kuban to Rubin in January 2023. He has also worked in the Russian Premier League (RPL), Orenburg and Tambov.
At the end of the 2021/22 season, Rubin, led by head coach Leonid Slutsky, flew out of the RPL. The specialist left the club in the capital of Tatarstan in November 2022.
At the end of the 2022/23 season, Rubin, led by Rashid Rakhimov, became the champion of the First Division and returned to the next higher division. Second place was taken by Baltika Kaliningrad, which also won a direct ticket to the top division.
