Paris Saint-Germain and France football player Kylian Mbappe said he was grieving the murder of a 17-year-old teenager who caused unrest in his country. He wrote about it on Twitter.

“I suffer for my France. Invalid status. All my thoughts go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased, this little angel who left so early,” Mbappe wrote.

Riots broke out in Nanterre, France, on the morning of 27 June after a police officer shot a 17-year-old boy for disobeying an order. While the young man died shortly after being injured, the employee suspected of deliberate homicide was detained after the incident.

Mbappé made 43 appearances in all competitions, scoring 41 goals and providing 10 assists for PSG last season. He helped the Parisians win the Ligue 1 title.

As part of the French national team, the striker reached the final of the World Cup in Qatar. In the main match of the tournament, the French lost to Argentina in a penalty shootout.
