“You were always talented”: Rublev returns to Bublik after defeat in Halle

After losing in the final of the ATP-500 series tournament held in Halle, Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev turned to his rival, Kazakhstan representative Alexander Bublik. Russians quote the words “Championship.com”.

“You have always been very talented. This victory shows that if you want to be a better player and play tennis more consistently – as you showed this week – then you have every chance,” Rublev said at the awards ceremony.

The final match, which lasted 1 hour and 35 minutes, ended with Bagel’s victory with a score of 6:3, 3:6, 6:3. For a tennis player, this title was a first on turf.

In the semi-finals of the tournament, the 25-year-old Russian tennis player defeated Spanish tennis player Roberto Bautista-Aguta. The match lasted 1 hour 41 minutes and ended with a score of 6:3, 6:4.

Bublik, who changed his sports citizenship from Russian to Kazakh citizenship in 2016, defeated the German representative Alexander Zverev in the semi-final match. In the quarter-finals, Bublik defeated another representative of Russia, Daniil Medvedev.

Earlier multiple champion of the USSR, commentator Anna Dmitrieva announced Bagel’s victory over Rublev.
