Russian boxer Artur Beterbiev said in an interview: Youtube channel “Boxing TV” about the loss of love for boxing.
“When did you stop loving boxing? after the olympics [2012 года]. Refereeing… I wasn’t going to continue boxing after London,” Beterbiev said, adding that the organizers insisted on continuing his career.
The athlete also noted that he would prefer to watch an interesting movie rather than a boxing match.
At the 2012 Olympics, Beterbiev reached the 1/4 final. At this stage, he lost to the future champion Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.
Beterbiev is the World Boxing Council (WBC), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) champion in the light heavyweight category.
In total, he won 19 wins without a single defeat. On June 18, in New York City, the boxer defeated Joe Smith Jr. by technical knockout in the second round and took the WBO title from the American. Beterbiev entered the ring under the Canadian flag.
