Russian Premier League (RPL) President Alexander Alaev said that there are no plans to reform the Russian Football Championship in the 2023/24 season. “Sport Express”.

“RPL reform? There is a workgroup, it has been created. I’m looking forward to the first meeting. Changes are not taken into account for the upcoming season. We do not touch this season of the Russian championship. We will look further, everything collectively, ”Alaev said.

The RPL president has said earlier that the league is considering possible changes to the format of the tournament, with a working group set up in the RPL.

Recall that on the eve of the start of the 2022/23 season, the format of the Russian Cup changed. The updated project uses the Double Elimination system, where the team leaves the tournament after two losses. The tournament was divided into two groups – the Russian Premier League Road and the Regions Road. The principle of holding the tournament in May 2022 was proposed by the organizers of the Russian Premier League Cup.
