Fakel beat Yenisey in first RPL playoff

Fakel Voronezh defeated Enisey Krasnoyarsk in the first play-off match for the right to play in the 2023/24 season of the Russian Premier League (RPL).

The match played on the football field in Krasnoyarsk on 7 June ended with the guest team leading 1-0.

Striker Evgeny Markov scored the only goal in the 77th minute.

We also note that from the 59th minute the Enisey players were in the minority after midfielder Oleg Lanin was kicked out of the field for violating the rules against their opponent’s defender Igor Kalinin.

The return match between Fakel and Yenisey will be played on 10 June in Voronezh. Based on the results, a team that will play in the RPL next season will be determined.

Recall that Fakel took the 14th place in the Russian Premier League standings in the 2022/23 season. Enisey finished fourth in the First Division championship.
